ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: Borja Golan of Spain won the title of the US$25,000 Chief of Air Staff International squash championship after a leg injury forced his Pakistani rival Mansoor Zaman to withdraw from the match at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Monday.The Spaniard Borja Golan was leading 2-1 after three games and was 2-0 ahead in the fourth game when Mansoor Zaman told referee that he did not want to continue due to injury.
The world No. 24 and tournament’s top seed thus won 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 2-0.
“Golan's knee struck me at the back of lower muscle of my left leg, just below knee,” said a dejected Mansoor. “I returned to complete the third game and started the fourth game but it was not possible for me to continue playing,” Mansoor added.—APP
