QUETTA, Nov 9: A bench of the Balochistan High Court on Wednesday issued notices to secretaries of defence and interior ministries, local authorities of ISI, MI, provincial home secretary and police officers of the crime branch and the ATF on a petition filed by Naila Qadri, accusing the agencies of arresting her husband.

The bench comprises Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani.

The petitioner said her husband Mir Ghulam Mustafa Raisani had been arrested on Oct 26 from their house in violation of law. She said her husband had not been produced in a court to fulfil legal requirements.

The hearing was adjourned till Nov 14.

In another case, the court directed the secretary for the Regional Transport Authority, director of the excise and taxation department and the SP, traffic, to implement the Motor Vehicle Ordinance and cancel route permits of buses, trucks and rickshaws plying without valid documents.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNA Maulana Noor Mohammad, which pertained to poor conditions of cleanliness, sewerage and drainage system, streetlights and vehicle parking in the city.

The petitioner prayed the court to direct authorities to solve the problems and provide better facilities to people.

The SP, traffic, Azam Khan Kakar, told the court that he would implement the court orders but expressed the apprehension that he might be transferred due to political pressure if he adopted strict measures.

The court directed authorities of the police department that the SP should not be transferred till further orders to ensure implementation of the court directives.

The court sought a report on the issue from authorities on the next hearing on Nov 15.
