HYDERABAD, Nov 10: Pasban president Professor Javed Sindhu has said that Sindh was the first province to opt for Pakistan and its people had rendered tremendous services for the creation of Pakistan, but its haris and workers are being subjected to inhuman excesses by jagirdars, waderas and corrupt politicians.
He said that successive governments and bureaucracy had deprived the people of their fundamental rights.
Speaking at an Eid reunion party at the press club on Friday, he called upon the people to unite on one platform to wrest their rights from the rulers.
He said that unless poor farmers, workers and people at large united on one platform, it would be impossible to get rid of jagirdars, waderas, opportunists and the vested interests.
He said that Pasban had launched a struggle in the country to get rid of looters and plunderers with a view to translating the dream of Allama Iqbal into a reality.
Pasban Sindh president Tariq Jamil said that the mission of Pasban was to get rid of exploitative forces and tyranny.
He said that the mission could not be completed without the cooperation and support of people.
Hussain Khan, Shafiqullah Ismail and Khudadad Nizamani also spoke on the occasion.
FORUM: A joint forum of students and teachers at a function held here at the press club on Friday rejected secular educational policies of the government and resolved to launch a struggle against anti-education steps taken by the government.
The function was organized by the Sindh chapter of the Islami Jamiat-e-Tuleba (IJT).
Haris Masood presided over the function.
The forum demanded that changes made in the syllabus at the instance of America should be done away with and the alleged conspiracy to convert Pakistan into a secular state should be given up.
It demanded that the ban on teachers and students unions should be lifted and interference by security forces in educational institutions should be stopped.
The forum opposed setting up of the Agha Khan education board and demanded effective measures to eliminate copy culture in examinations.
It demanded that the semester system should be introduced at secondary and higher secondary level and admission test should be abolished.
The forum opposed frequent increases in fees and demanded introduction of Sindhi language as medium of instructions at the primary level.
Rahmatullah Channa, SPSF president Salman Dasti, SNSF president, Lala Qurban and SPLA leader Professor Ghazanfar Shah spoke on the occasion.
