KHAIRPUR: 13 policemen sentenced

KHAIRPUR, Nov 10: Civil judge and first judicial magistrate Inayatullah Bhutto on Friday sentenced 13 police personnel to 18 month’s imprisonment and fined them Rs500 each under section 155-B and C of the Police Order.

The police personnel were booked in a case in which notorious bandits Ameer Shah, Hadoo Junejo, Bangul Mirbahar,

Niaz Maitlo, Ghous Bux

Jagirani, Mushtaq Mahar, Ramzan Mirani, Nooro Zangejo, Khalid Khoso and Unis Dharejo held a prisoners van hostage on October 15 when it was returning to the Sukkur central jail from a hearing.

They escaped from police custody.

The police personnel included Sub-inspector Rajab Ali Maitlo, head constables Ghulam Rasool Shaikh, Hadi Bux Mallah, Ghous Bux Sial, van driver Hadi Bux Khaskheli, police constables Qamaruddin Narejo, Ali Nawaz Shar, Muneer Ahmed Mirani, Ali Nawaz Chang, Mohammad Kamil Sodhiro, Ali Gul Gilal, Nazeer Ahmed Bhatti, Mohammad Azeem Murree and Ali Anwar.

They were taken into custody and sent to central jail after the court gave its verdict.

The court, however, acquitted Inspector Hamza Ali Sahito, Inspector Niaz Mohammad Soomro, Sub-inspector Abdul Hameed Leghari and Sub-inspector Bashir Ahmed Gujjar.
