KARACHI, Nov 18: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Saturday inaugurated the first inter-city bus terminus in Baldia Town on RCD Highway Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the governor said that numerous problems relating to transport would be solved with the shifting of the scattered termini for Balochistan-bound buses to the newly-built terminus.

The new terminus, built by the city government at a cost of Rs140 million, has the capacity of accommodating 500 buses using RCD Highway.

Dr Ibad praised City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal’s efforts and also thanked transporters for their cooperation to the city government in getting the buses shifted to the new facility.

He said that the buses still being operated from certain unauthorised termini would also be shifted to the new terminus, adding that this would also help the law-enforcement agencies in curbing crime in Lyari and some other areas as criminals had also been using these illegal bus stands as their hideouts.

He assured the provincial and city governments of continued support from the Centre in providing better infrastructure and more facilities to the people of Sindh, particularly Karachi.
