NAWABSHAH, Nov 21: The district council of Nawabshah adopted a unanimous resoultion on Thursday, demanding that the federal government order withdrawal of Rangers from the district ask them to vacat government and private properties occupied by them.

The council meeting was held under the chairmanship of convener Abdul Haq Jamali.

Syed Munir Shah, nazim of UC Pir Zakri and chairman of the district accounts committee, tabled the resolution which said that Rangers had occupied many government properties and land including hostel of government boys degree college, Nawabshah, 16 years ago, besides eight government bungalows and a rest house of the district council, old office and second class inspection bungalow of Nusrat irrigation division, a 30,000 square feet plot of Rangers public school, Indus Mart building, a plot belonging to SDO office, irrigation rest house and staff quarters of a housing society.

The resolution said that more than six acres of government land in deh 26, Dad taluka, Nawabshah and a piece of land in the Mohammad Bux Jamali village were also occupied by the Rangers.

He said that the Rangers were not carrying out any law enforcing job in the district and demanded its immediate withdrawal. Islam Khan Zardari, nazim UC-1, Loung Khan Channa, members Sakina Bano, Jam Feroze Unnar, Mohammad Hussain Bughio, Ghulam Mustafa Soomro and others also spoke against the Rangers presence in the district.

Rangers’ stay in Nawabshah was senseless and they must return to barracks and the properties occupied by them should immediately be vacated, they added.

The council members demanded of the federal government vacation of educational institutions, government bungalows, pieces of plots, buildings and agricultural lands and their handing over to the district government so that schemes such as museum, children park, cultural centres and other projects of public interest could be initiated. The resolution was unanimously passed.
