SWABI, Nov 24: Colleges in the district have been closed for Saturday to scuttle a protest demonstration of the Islami Jamiat Tulaba during a visit of NWFP Chief Minister to the district.

The chief minister is scheduled to visit the district on Saturday and the IJT has announced to hold the demonstration at the Kernel Sher Chowk at the district headquarters to press him for lifting the ban on student unions.

The IJT said despite the closure of colleges, students would try to hold a demonstration.

However, police said students would not be allowed to hold a demonstration. A police official said no one had been arrested but police had been alerted.

The IJT had also blocked the Swabi-Mardan road on Wednesday in protest against the ban on student unions.
