HYDERABAD, Nov 28: A ceremony for distributing bags and books among students was held in the district council hall in Tando Mohammad Khan on Monday.
Schoolbags, story book sets and pictorial dictionaries were distributed to class-I students of all girl primary schools in Tando Mohammad Khan with the support of the education sector reforms assistance programme funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Tando Mohammad Khan District Nazim Mir Inayat Ali Talpur lauded efforts of the USAID-ESRA for reforms in the education sector and assured full support of the district government to the programme.
District Naib Nazim Ishfaque Sarhandi asked primary school teachers to ensure their regular attendance in schools.
He said that most of shelter-less schools have got their buildings under school improvement programme of USAID-ESRA and teachers had also been trained by the USAID-ESRA programme.
DO (elementary education) Aijaz Ali Jagsi briefed about activities of USAID-ESRA in Tando Mohammad Khan.
He said that the USAID-ESRA had given Rs6 million as district improvement grant for upgrading of two primary schools (government boys main primary school and government girls main primary school Tando Ghulam Hyder) into model schools and set up one educational resource centre.
He said that more than 1,000 primary school teachers, head teachers and education managers had been trained by USAID-ESRA.
He said that under USAID-ESRA’s fourth component public community partnership more than 300 SMCs had been trained and about 229 primary schools had been awarded school improvement grant of Rs124,000 to each school for their physical improvement.Through this intervention of USAID-ESRA, mostly for shelter-less schools, one-room building with toilet were constructed by their own school management committees, he said.
A tableau was performed by students of the Government Girls Main Primary school Tando Mohammad Khan and bags were distributed among the students.
