HYDERABAD, Nov 30: A resident of Chandni chowk of Dadu has accused the Jamshoro police of holding his nine family members of his family as hostages and appealed to the superior judiciary and other authorities to take notice of what he called highhandedness of police.
Speaking at a news conference, Ali Akbar Solangi, said that his brother Basheer Solangi had married Farhana, daughter of late Roshan Ali Solangi, Wapda colony Jamshoro, after filing an affidavit in the court of civil judge and judicial magistrate Sakrand some days back.
He alleged that at the instance of ASI Dawood Solangi of police line Jamshoro, ASIs Mir Khan Solangi and Manzoor Solangi of Kotri, ASI Mustafa Solangi, Ayoub Solangi and others, a jirga was held and it was decided to kill the married couple as karo-kari.He alleged that on November 7, ASI Dawood Solangi, Mir Khan Solangi, Ahmed Solangi, a lady constable along with many others raided his house in the middle of the night and tortured his family members and also took ornaments and other articles including Rs35,800 cash.
He said that he along with his two brothers Ali Asghar and Mir Mohammad were also taken to the Jamshoro police station and subjected to torture.
He said that the investigation officer of the case, released him on November 19, but his two brothers were not released.
He said that when he returned home, he found out that ASI Mir Khan Solangi, ASI Manzoor Solangi and ASI Ghulam Murtaza Solangi had already occupied his house.
He said that he was told by them that his family members had been detained and unless Ms Farhana was returned, they would be kept as hostages.
He appealed to the superior judiciary and other higher authorities to take notice of the highhandedness of police and order the recovery of his family members.
When contacted on his cell phone, ASI Manzoor Solangi said, it was a matter of family honour, which no body can understand easily.
He denied keeping any one as hostage.
He said that whatever action was taken it was after the registration of an FIR.
The other police officers were not available on telephone.
