HYDERABAD, Nov 30: The District Nazim of Hyderabad, Kanwar Naveed Jamil has assured the famalies affected by some projects in Latif Colony in Qasimabad taluka that they will be provided alternate plots of 100 square yards each but made it clear that judicial decisions had to be obeyed and complied with.

He further said that the people living in backward areas of Qasimabad will not only be given proprietary rights but also all civic amenities adding that the people of Qasimabad will soon witness visible changes and improvement in the whole taluka.

He was speaking as chief guest at a reception hosted in his honour by the affectees of Latif Colony here.

The adviser to the provincial government, MPA Nuzhat Pathan, Aslam Parvez, advocate, MPA, nazim of UC-I Qasimabad, Parvez Ranjha, naib nazim Abdul Karim Ghangra, zonal organiser MQM, Siraj Rajput and a large number of people of the area were present on the occasion.

He said everyone desired to have his own house but if someone’s house was snatched, it would be disastrous for the entire family.

He pointed out that Latif Colony had come into existence on a plot meant for a park and as the officials concerned failed to take notice of this illegality, the people started constructing their own houses with their lifelong savings.

He, however, said that an illegal act could not become legal with the passage of time and, therefore, the people had to be ejected under the orders of the court.

He said, it was the duty of every organisation and individual to obey and implement the orders of judiciary.

Nevertheless, he said, on humanitarian grounds, the displaced families were being legally provided 100 square yards plot each and added that they will also be provided other basic facilities.

Kanwar Naveed Jamil also held out an assurance that the villages in Qasimabad will also be regularized very soon which will be provided water supply and sewerage facilities and all other facilities.

He said, in the past, the rulers were only interested in the votes of the residents of Qasimabad who never thought to improve their living standards. The result, he said, was that the situation in Qasimabad turned from bad to worse.

Speaking on the occasion, adviser to Sindh government, Ms Nuzhat Pathan, said that many a problem in the taluka had been created by the builder mafia and land grabbers and plots were illegally occupied by the influential people at their will due to indifferent attitude of the concerned institutions.

She said, this further encouraged the land grabbers and the matter finally went to the court. She appreciated the role of the district nazim for resolving the problems of the displaced families amicably and on humanitarian grounds.
