HYDERABAD, Dec 5: The Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Hans Joachim, visited the University of Sindh and held a meeting with the vice chancellor, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, here on Tuesday.

The vice chancellor briefed the German diplomat about historical perspective of the university and also its academic and research activities at the campus and its affiliated colleges.

He informed the guest that Sindh University which is the second oldest university of the country, is a multidiscipline university providing education to youth in 55 disciplines.

The vice chancellor said that many scholars of the university had got higher education including at PhD level from different universities of Germany.

The vice chancellor while highlighting the services of the founder vice chancellor of the university, Allama I.I.Kazi, also lauded services of German scholars Dr Ernest Trump, Dr Annemarie Schimmel and Ms Elsa Kazi.

The Consul General, while appreciating academic programmes of the university, evinced interest for academic partnership between Sindh University and universities of Germany.

He said that in 60’s some steps were taken for development of educational and academic partnership but failed in proper result-oriented achievements.

He hoped that under the need of modern day, steps towards education and research-oriented partnership would be beneficial for scholars of both the universities.

During his visit of the Institute of Sindhology, he appreciated efforts for preserving history, culture and archaeology by the Institute of Sindhology.

ADMISSIONS: The director admissions, University of Sindh, has announced on Tuesday that last date to deposit admission fee by candidates selected in various disciplines of bachelors degree programme under second merit list on district quota, general disciplines and female quota, has been fixed as December 16.

Candidates already selected in first merit list under self-finance, Sindh University employees, college teachers and disabled quota, have also been advised to deposit their admission fee latest by December 16.
