NAWABSHAH, Dec 5: Sindh minister for health has taken serious notice of chopping down of over 50 eucalyptus trees by health department of Nawabshah directing the forest department to register a case against the EDO of health under Forest Act 1927 and SLGO 2001.
In a letter addressed to Sindh chief secretary, DCO and DO of forests Nawabshah, Senior Minister and Minister for Health and Coordination Syed Sardar Ahmed requested chief secretary to direct the EDO of health to report for duty at health department.
He would forward the charge sheet after receiving a report from DCO and DFO Nawabshah therefore he might be suspended, the letter said directing the forest department to register a case against the EDO under Forest Act 1927 and SLGO 2001 for violation of law and cutting trees without any remorse.
EDO Forests Tariq Irfan confirmed that he had received the letter and said he would soon send a comprehensive report to the DCO for necessary action.
He said that 61 trees including 59 eucalyptus and two neem trees were chopped down in the premises of EDO health’s office. The estimated value of the wood from the trees was Rs47,835.
