GILGIT, Dec 9: Speakers at a seminar stressed the need for raising awareness among the people about AIDS and its deadly effects. The seminar was organised by the Northern Areas AIDS Control Consortium (NAACC) the other day.

Speaking on the occasion, Northern Areas Police chief Sarmad Saeed Khan said it was the responsibility of all people to support the efforts aimed at combating and controlling AIDS. He called for a joint struggle against the disease in collaboration with the non-governmental organisations and government departments.

He announced that in future questions about AIDS would be put to all candidates during their interviews for the police department. He praised the efforts of NAACC in spreading awareness among the masses about AIDS.
