HYDERABAD, Dec 13: The Additional Relief Commissioner, Board of Revenue, Sindh, Munir Ahmed Memon, has said that an amount of Rs.10.4 million has been sanctioned by the provincial government for payment of compensation to the legal heirs of those who reportedly died during the rain and flood in 2006 in different districts of the province.
The compensation had been fixed as Rs100,000 for bread earners and Rs50,000 for non-bread earners.
Giving the break-up of the victims and sanctioned amount, the BOR official said that 146 people had died due to rain and flood during the year out of which 62 were reported as bread earners and 84 as non-bread earners .
Giving details, he said that an amount of Rs2.3 million was dispatched to DCO Karachi, Rs1.9 million to Hyderabad, Rs0.4 million to Dadu, Rs0.45 million to Badin, Rs0.35 million to Thatta, Rs0.4 million to Nawabshah, Rs0.150 million to Khairpur, Rs1.450 million to Sanghar, Rs0.350 million to Mirpurkhas, Rs0.8 million to Tharparkar, Rs0.350 to Tando Muhammad Khan, Rs100,000 to Tando Allahyar, Rs0.550 to Matiari, Rs0.5 million to Jamshoro, and Rs0.35 million to Umerkot. He further informed said that the district government of Mirpurkhas has already paid compensation to the legal heirs of 10 deceased out of the relief fund.
