DADU, Dec 24: Drainage, sanitation and water supply system of different parts of Dadu has almost collapsed due to apathy of the town municipal administration of Dadu which was causing spread of different diseases in the city.

The thickly populated areas remain neglected as main nullah and drains are found over flowing with heaps of garbage lying at main roads and water supply lines broken at various places compelling the citizens to use unhygienic water mixed with sewerage water.

A resident of Soomro colony UC-1, Aftab Ahmed Soomro told this correspondent that nullahs of Shah Latif colony, Azizabad, Soomro colony, Shahbaz colony, Pir Bux Colony, and DC colony were choked with its water gushing on main roads.

He complained that owing to failure of drainage system, people were contracting diseases such as malaria and gastroenteritis.

Residents of Gharibabad, Nadeem Ahmed Ghallo and Zulfiqar Khokhar complained that knee-deep sewerage water was running on different roads in the area. They alleged that sub-standard material was used in the construction of nullah.

The Nazim of UC-1, Abdul Ghaffar Kheero, said that TMA was not handing over sanitation staff to UC as a result of which residents of this UC were forced to live in an unhygienic condition.

A resident of UC-2, Gul Mohammad Joyo, said that manholes of drainage were chocked in Sunara Mohalla and Surajabad and added that TMA officials were informed but all in vain.

An affected citizen of UC-3 Asghar Mallah complained that the residents of Majeed Bhatti colony, Buth Mohalla Merani, Masan roads, Shahani Mohalla, Shaikh colony and Junaid colony were lacking facilities of drainage, sanitation and water supply.

He said open manholes were causing problem for children. He said that officials were only concerned with streets of councillors and their relatives.

A resident of UC-4 Inayatullah Jamali, president, Citizen Welfare Ittehad, said that a large number people of New bus stand, Bhittai colony, housing society, Daro road, Moulvi Jamaluddin Goth and Qalandarabad were infected with diseases after using water mixed with drainage. He said that residents were paying different taxes to TMA but in return the TMA had neglected this UC.
