ISLAMABAD, Dec 29: Senator Babar Awan Friday asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice of the brutality committed by police against the family members of the missing persons while staging a peaceful protest demonstration in Rawalpindi.

In an open letter to the chief justice, Babar Awan urged him to hear the case on daily basis and punish those involved in this inhuman crime. Babar Awan has also sent a picture of a boy having his pants down to his feet with stick-wielding police around. The boy was protesting against the disappearance of his father.

He said Constitution guaranteed life and liberty of the citizens, while Article 14 envisaged that every citizen and all others for the time being living in Pakistan shall have right of dignity of men which was inviolable.— Our Reporter
