HYDERABAD, Jan 4: The district government and Taluka Municipal Administration (TMA) Qasimabad have hammered out their petty differences over different development works.

Addressing a joint news conference on Thursday, the District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Taluka Qasimabad Nazim Noor Mohammad Shoro, Taluka Naib Nazim Ghulam Hyder Shahani, provincial adviser Nuzhat Pathan and six members of Qasimabad Taluka Council they said that the misunderstanding was the result of lack of communication between the two tiers of local government, creating misgivings and misunderstandings and announced that 13-points had been agreed upon through a consensus.

In his opening remarks Kanwar Naveed Jamil said that in fact there was lack of communication which led to different misunderstandings otherwise development works were being executed in the taluka. “Some proposals of our colleagues have been welcomed by me and they are briefed about district government's plans of works”, he said. Like other parts, he added, Qasimabad taluka was also getting priority in sectors of sewerage, drainage, water supply, parks and playgrounds, education, health and roads simultaneously at a cost of Rs500 to Rs550 million roughly. He said that lack of communication always breeds misgivings and past was witness to the fact that it had led to serious repercussions.

He said that he had apprised representatives of Qasimabad about developments that had been taken in hand and they were unaware of it while their recommendations had been received. He said that in fact one of these representatives were calling for their personal work as they were also interested in service of people which should be given priority at all costs.

Referring to Niaz Stadium's issue, he said one more meeting was due over the issue regardless of the fact that it was ultimately to be handed over to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and added that no commercial gain was involved in this project. He said that even if the stadium was not property of Taluka Municipal Administration (TMA) Qasimabad, share of its proceeds would be given to TMA. He said that even media was supportive of the fact that stadium should be given under administrative control of PCB.

He said that local bodies representatives of Qasimabad could not study the stadium's file which he had given to them but expressed the hope that they would discuss it with some legal brains. He said that a separate agreement could be signed between TMA Qasimabad and the district government once the ground's control was given to PCB adding that after all stadium would continue to exist where it is presently located.

He said that trauma centre was in fact proposed by him and it was not an old scheme adding that since Qasimabad would have a new fully equipped hospital soon the trauma centre was shifted to a place near CIA centre. He added that present taluka hospital was working as a clinic and when he took over the charge he ensured that patients are admitted and subsequently cardiac, orthopaedic, ENT and surgical units would be established.Replying to newsmen’s queries Taluka Nazim Noor Mohammad Shoro blamed UC-2 Nazim Mehboob Abro for politicising every issue because he intended to contest for provincial assembly seat from Qasimabad. He said that majority of taluka council's members were with him and also present here and added that it was in his tenure that he had ensured water supply to 80 villages, gas and electricity was also provided to villages while drainage works were executed.

Adviser to Sindh chief minister, Mrs.Nuzhat Pathan agreed with the District Nazim that lack of communication was mother of all problems which enabled vested interests to gain political mileage out of it. “Such a situation always enables disgruntled elements to score points at the cost of people”, she remarked while saying that she had in fact played the role of a bridge between two tiers of local bodies.
