Religious leader killed

PESHAWAR, Jan 4: Unidentified gunmen shot dead the caretaker of an Imambargah here on Thursday, according to the police. Gunmen sprayed bullets on Syed Ali Imam Jaferi near his residence when he was on his way to the Imambargah, which is situated in the limits of the C-Division police station, a police official said. It was not immediately clear who killed Mr Jaferi. Syed Mahmood Ali Jaferi, the son of the deceased, got an FIR registered against unknown assailants at the said police station. Police said an investigation into the murder was under way.
