HYDERABAD, Jan 5: An accused arrested by the Husri police in a murder case was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of civil hospital Hyderabad who reportedly lost his conscious after being subjected to third degree methods of torture during interrogation. The police, however, alleged that he had tried to commit in the lock-up of Husri police station.

The accused, identified as Saleem Panwhar, arrested by the police, in connection with the murder case of one Sharif Panwhar, who was found dead in a gutter on the second day of Eid ul Azha.

The family of the deceased had claimed that he had accompanied Saleem Panwhar on Eid day who did not return.

The accused was brought to the hospital on Friday morning and till filing of this report he was kept on an artificial respiratory system. “So far he is on artificial respiratory system and when he starts breathing we will be able to give a clear view of his general condition”, said a lady doctor at ICU.

His condition is stated to be critical and was unable to speak as he was lying unconscious.

Saleem Panwhar had conceded to have thrown the body of the deceased into the gutter following a fight in which he lost his life.

He had told police that deceased had tried to subject him to sodomy which led to fist fighting.

During interrogation, police claimed that Saleem disclosed that Sharif Panwhar was drunk before the incident. Mohammad Yousuf, father of deceased, had lodged a murder case under section 302 PPC with Husri police against Saleem Panwhar and two others, Punhoon Solangi and Ali Nawaz, who later surrendered to police through UC Nazim Abdullah Shoro.

Six suspects including Qasim, Allah Dino and Siddique and three other unidentified people, were picked-up by the police for interrogation. They, however, were released.
