Three die of lightning

BAJAUR, Feb 18: Three people of a family died and four others received serious injuries when lightning hit their house in the Chelargam village of Salarzai subdivision in the Bajaur Agency on Sunday night.

The family members were sleeping in their house when lightning struck and two rooms collapsed, killing Shoaib, 20, Akbar, 15 and Zainub, 25, on the spot.

The injured Assad, Naimat, Gul Khan and Salim were shifted to the hospital where Assad was stated to be in a serious condition.

Dozens of animals of the family also died due to the lightning.

SNOWFALL:A severe snow storm swept several parts of the Bajaur Agency on Sunday night, pushing the mercury level to freezing point.

The main crossing points along the Pakistan-Afghan border in the tribal agency, Ghani Pass and Nawa Pass, were closed for all kind of movement across the border as the snowfall closed all passages.

The border officials of the two countries have begun work on clearing the passes to open the roads for traffic.
