Published January 8, 2007

THATTA, Jan 7: Enraged relatives of a man arrested on charges of drug peddling staged a sit-in and set ablaze tyres on the Thatta-Badin highway near Pathan Colony bringing the traffic to a halt for four hours on Sunday.

The protesters led by Sher Ali, Asif Khan and Zaman Khan staged a sit-in at the Thatta-Sujawal bridge on Indus River and blocked it by burning tyres and throwing boulders and empty drums.

They ended their protest after Sujawal police who had picked up Ghaffar Khan, their relative, assured them that he would be released.
