HYDERABAD, Jan 8: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has taken notice of irregularities in some government healthcare facilities and ordered transfer of a medical superintendent and other staff, suspension of a doctor and a dispenser and show-cause notices to the absentee staff.

The district nazim has taken the action on the report of the district health monitoring committee, headed by Dr Arif Ramzi, which recently paid surprise visits to government hospitals under his instructions.

According to the district nazim secretariat, Mr Jamil has directed the EDO (health) to immediately transfer the medical superintendent and the staff of the Government Hospital, Tonga Stand, Phulelli, and initiate departmental proceedings against them for dereliction of duty.

He ordered that the medical superintendent should not be posted on the same post at any other hospital. He ordered suspension of Dr Riaz Ahmed Qureshi and a dispenser of the Rural Health Centre, Husri, and called for an inquiry against them.

He took notice of encroachments in the health centre and asked the union council nazim to remove the encroachments with the help of police without any delay. He ordered that show-cause notices be issued to the absent doctors of Lady Dufferin Hospital and encroachments be removed from parking area for vehicles of attendants.

He ordered that show-cause notices be issued to the absentee staff of the Basic Health Unit, Sono Khan Almani, and required medicines and equipments be supplied to the BHU.Similar action has been ordered against the absentee staff of the BHUs in Tando Fazal and Lorai Sharif and health centre in deh Seri.
