PESHAWAR, Jan 8: Young Civil Quarters, Pakha Ghulam Club and Bana Mari Club won their respective matches to advance to the next round of the PHF National NWFP Inter-Club Hockey Championship here at the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Monday.

Young Civil Quarters upset Usmania Club 2-1, Pakha Ghulam secured victory against Stars Club 3-0 while Barna Mari downed Mumtaz XI 2-0.

In the first match Young Civil Quarters’ Yasir opened the scoring in the fourth minute when he dodged three defenders before slamming in a beautiful goal on the reverse flick. Young Civil Quarters doubled the lead through Kashif Islam on the field attempt.

However, Usmania Club reduced the margin in the 33rd minute. Usmania kept up the pressure to equalise but they wasted a golden chance of converting a penalty stroke. Bilal missed the target in the 56th minute when his penalty stroke push was nicely intercepted by goal-keeper Sheraz Khan.
