SUKKUR, Jan 13: Activists of All Parties Action Committee, Sukkur, staged sit-in in front of the DCO and district nazim offices, on Saturday against shortage of drinking water, lawlessness, stagnant sewage waters on roads and unscheduled load-shedding.

The activists of Sindh National Front, Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party, Jamaat-i-Islami, Jaey Sindh Qaumi Mahaaz, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Sukkur Shahree Ittehad and others, staged a sit- in in front of the DCO and district nazim offices while shouting slogans against the district and taluka governments.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that following the annual closure of canal, people of many areas of Sukkur were facing drinking water shortage.

They slammed the TMA for its failure to adopt alternate measures for the smooth supply of drinking water to the people.

Strongly condemning the law and order situation in the city and its suburbs, the leaders said that seven incidents of robbery had taken place in Gharib Abad, Barrage Colony, New Goth, Old Sukkur and Sangrar on Friday, which exposed the poor performance of the police.

Besides this, they said that most of the main city roads, including Clock Tower, Mehran Markaz, Barrage Road, Hussaini Road, Shikarpur Road, Workshop Road and others, were under sewage water and the TMA was not taking interest to drain it out.

They said that Sukkur city roads were in a shambles these days as all the development works were being carried out in a haphazard manner due to which people were facing hardship. They demanded of the Sindh government to intervene and resolve the problems of the people on immediate basis.

EXAM FORMS: The controller of examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Sukkur, announced on Saturday that the board would accept examination forms and fee for the annual examination of 2007 of Higher Secondary Certificate Part-I and II (Class XI and XII) regular and private groups up to February 6 without late fee.

The forms would be accepted with late fee of Rs100 up to February 20, said an official handout.
