PESHAWAR, Jan 20: NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai on Saturday warned that any damage to the North Waziristan peace agreement would put the people back in an abyss of uncertainty and despair.

“This is the last chance for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the area and any harm caused to it either intentionally or unintentionally would surely be a big disaster,” he added.

The NWFP governor was talking to a 15-member peace committee of North Waziristan which called on him at the Governor's House here on Saturday.

The political agent of North Waziristan and officials of the Fata civil secretariat attended the meeting held to review the implementation of the peace agreement.

The governor apprised the delegation members of the apprehensions expressed by certain quarters about the peace accord and said that there was a need to further gear up efforts for ensuring full implementation of all clauses of the agreement.

He asked the administration to increase the number security checks in the agency to foil any subversive activity.

The delegation members assured the governor that they would take steps for keeping the peace agreement intact.—PPI
