HYDERABAD, Jan 21: Abdul Aziz Sheikh has been elected president and Noorul Haq Qureshi secretary of Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA).

Mr. Sheikh got 381 votes and Mr. Qureshi 418 with Zahoor A. Baloch and Nasreen Qadri close on their heels in the bar’s annual elections held on Saturday under the supervision of three a member election committee.

Abdul Khaliq Leghari was once again elected vice-president with 301 votes and Syed Jawed Shah Bukhari was elected as library secretary with 383 votes after beating Umer Deen Qureshi.

Ahmed Raza Siddiqui obtained 211 defeating Irfan Qureshi for the office of joint secretary. Ms. Allah Bachai, Asma Hameed, Nisar Ahmed Baloch and S. Imran Alvi were elected as senior members of managing committee while Abdullah Qazi, Farhad Ali Abro, Taj Keerio and Mohammad Waseem were elected as junior members of managing committee.

The chairman of election committee said that out of 912 eligible voters, 656 votes were polled.

JSNP: Relatives of Agha Shamshad Mughal, chairman of Jeay Sindh National Party (JSNP) and party activists continued hunger strike outside the press club on Sunday against Mr. Mughal’s disappearance.

The relatives said that they had no information about Mr. Mughal’s whereabouts since he was allegedly picked up by agencies nine days ago and feared that he might get killed.

They announced that the government did not make his whereabouts public within 24 hours they would resort to hunger strike unto death.
