HYDERABAD, Jan 26: Two Japanese professors Dr Yato Kitamura of Nagoya University Japan and Hisaya ODA, visiting professor of Graduate School Tokyo, University of Foreign Studies visited Sindh University and delivered lectures on the economic growth of Japan and education and literacy rate on Thursday.
The function was arranged under the aegis of Japan Foundation's Travelling Seminar and organised by the Department of International Relations and Area Study Centre Far East and South East Asia, University of Sindh in collaboration with Japan Foundation.
In his lecture on “Japan's economic growth and its relevance to developing countries”, Prof ODA said that Japan had achieved high rate of economic growth in top ten countries with high investment and pragmatic policies in business and industrial sector.
He said that key factor in economic growth is technological progress and added that Japan nowadays is the second largest country after USA in terms of economy.
Prof Yato Kitamura in his talk on “Role of education for modernization of Japanese society” said that Japan has protected basic human rights of its people.
He said education produces good citizens and added that it is also necessary to maintain balance in quality and quantity.
He said that Japan has adopted pragmatic and secular policies of education and achieved 100 per cent literacy rate.
