Published January 29, 2007

KHAIRPUR, Jan 28: Residents of Mohalla Kalri of Pir Jo Goth staged a demonstration outside the press club on Saturday against what they said torture by police of their relative arrested 11 days ago.

They told reporters that Pir Jo Goth police arrested Mohammad Ali, son of Hamz Ali, on fake charges of snatching motorbike, and subjected him to inhuman torture to extract a confession.

They claimed that the police admitted him to the civil hospital late without informing his relatives and appealed for justice.
