DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 28: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday condemned the suicide attack in Peshawar and said the provincial government would make extra efforts to unearth the culprits behind the deadly incident.

Talking to journalists at his residence here, he termed the attack a horrible terrorist act and urged the federal government to help the provincial government to find the culprits.

He said that the frequent occurrence of terrorist attacks in the province indicated that the law and order situation was at its worst, adding that terrorists had made Peshawar their target. Such incidents in other districts of the province pointed to the inaction of the state intelligence apparatus.

He said that the federal government’s policies were causing unrest in the country, adding that the intelligence agencies were busy compiling reports about the activities of politicians and were totally oblivious to the activities of the anti-social and anti-Islam elements.

The opposition leader said that the political parties would have to bury their differences to fight the common enemy of humanity and Islam.

He said that Pakistan’s support to the US and its allies against Taliban after the 9/11 incident had negative implications for the country.

“We have to stand united and break the hidden hand behind the terrorist acts,” he concluded.
