HYDERABAD, Jan 29: People’s Party Parliamentarians MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur, who is a member of the National Assembly standing committee for housing and works, has taken exception to allotment of 3,000 houses to government servants and others in Karachi by the federal minister for housing and works.

In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Monday, he said that the allotment of houses exclusively in Karachi was discriminatory and unjustified. He stressed the need for a uniform policy of allotment of houses to civil servants throughout Pakistan.

Mr Talpur said that he and other members had lodged protest at a meeting of the committee held in Karachi recently.

He said that the allotments included quota of the prime minister and the minister concerned. He said proprietary rights of flats had been given to favourite people and wondered under which law such a procedure had been adopted.

He criticized 30 per cent out of turn allotments as announced by the prime minister and demanded that 100 per cent allotment should be made according to the seniority list.
