LAHORE, Feb 4: All matters concerning the holding of a multi-party conference will be decided by former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif at a meeting to be held in London during the next few weeks.
This was decided in a meeting between PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim and Mian Nawaz Sharif at a breakfast hosted by PML-N Senator Ishaq Dar in Dubai on Sunday.
According to PML-N sources, the meeting is expected to be held either in the last week of February or early March.
The PPP and the PML-N leaders will decide who should host the MPC and who should be invited to attend.
No statement was issued at the end of the meeting that lasted about 90 minutes. The two sides, sources said, agreed to adhere to the Charter of Democracy.
Mr Fahim told Dawn that the PPP would like the MPC agenda to be ‘widened’.
He said the PPP and the PML-N were together in the ARD and would continue to work for democracy.
