NAWABSHAH, Feb 6: Hundreds of people took to streets and blocked Daur link road in protest against taluka municipal administration (TMA) after a two-year-old boy Zeeshan Malik fell into an uncovered manhole in Taj Colony and died on Tuesday.

The protesters led by Fida Hussain and Aslam said that several such incidents had earlier occurred in the city but TMA had not bothered to take them seriously.

Taluka Nazim Abdul Khan expressed grief over the incident but denied the existence of any TMA sewerage line in the area.

He said that the colony had sprung up unplanned and the manhole in which the boy fell must have been dug up by the residents themselves.

The TMA was, however, carrying out sewerage work in the colony, he said.
