KARACHI, Feb 7: MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has said his party aspires for 100 per cent literacy rate in Pakistan, and pointed out that his party was the only one that has sent educated people from the middle class to the legislative assemblies.

He was addressing party workers and members of the coordination committee by telephone from London at a reception held at the party’s headquarters on Wednesday to welcome renowned artist and compere Khushbakht Shujaat into the party fold.

Mr Hussain said the Establishment was frightened that educated MQM leaders from the middle class were breaking the monopoly of the rich class, which had made the prestigious assemblies their domain.

Lashing out at the role played by the Establishment in the 1990’s, he said it had resorted to hatching a conspiracy against him and his party by unleashing media propaganda.

He remarked that the parties which had given the slogans of ‘Roti, Kapra Aur Makaan’ and ‘Qarz Utaro, Mulk Sanwaro’ had never delivered. They would always award party tickets to their nears and dears or favourites, he added.
