NAWABSHAH, Feb 10: A young girl sustained 50 per cent burn injuries when a man threw acid on her in her house in Bhirya town, Nausharo Feroze district, on Friday because her parents had turned down his proposal for her.

The victim, Sakina, daughter of Urs Solangi, 21, was taken to the Nawabshah medical college hospital where she was admitted in surgical ward.

Narrating her ordeal, she told journalists at the hospital on Saturday that Murtaza Khushk wanted to marry her but as he belonged to another caste, her parents rejected the proposal. She said that Murtaza barged into her house at 4am, threw acid on her and escaped.

She said that injustice had been meted out to her and the culprit must get the same punishment.

Dr Gordhan Das of the hospital said that the condition of Sakina was critical as she had received 50 percent burn injuries.

Later, her father lodged an FIR under section 324, 336 and 34, PPC, against Khushk and two unidentified men with the Bhirya police. However, no arrest was made till the filing of this report.
