HYDERABAD, Feb 11: Anti- Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Syed Ali Ashraf Shah on Saturday remanded for five days in the custody of Market investigation police four more people accused of involvement in Greesh Kumar’s kidnapping and murder.

Police produced Tahir Hussain, son of Khadim Hussain Minhas, Javed Ansari, Mohammad Asghar and Mohammad Ali alias Adnan, a teacher at Darul Huda Tahfeezul Quran, before the judge under tight security to secure their remand. Police records showed the accused were arrested on Friday.

Tahir Hussain and Javed Ansari were also remanded in police custody for five days in a police encounter case lodged at Kotri police station. The case was registered when an encounter took place during police’s raid on the residence of Tahir Hussain to arrest him, his father and brother.

Police had already picked up Khadim Hussain and his son Shahid Hussain in connection with the encounter and murder of Greesh Kumar, an engineer, who was kidnapped on August 17 last year from the Market police station area.

His remains were found in an abandoned house in the Sachal Sarmast Colony in the jurisdiction of Kotri police station on Thursday. The accused had been in police custody since then.

Police have sent particles of Greesh’s remains for DNA test to Lahore. One Sohail who is said to be the mastermind behind the kidnap, is still at large.

HUNGER STRIKE: A large number of activists of Sindh Taraqi Passand Party, on Sunday staged a protest demonstration and hunger strike outside the Hyderabad press club against the registration of alleged false cases against the party leaders by Karachi, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Sann police.

Deputy general secretary of the party, Nandlal Mahli demanded that false cases against the STP leaders and workers be withdrawn.
