HYDERABAD, Feb 13: A three-day 13th National Paediatrics Conference would be held in Hyderabad on March 2-4, which would be attended by a large number of child specialists from the country and abroad, said the office-bearers of the Hyderabad chapter of Pakistan Paediatrics Association (PPA) on Tuesday.

PPA’s Prof Salma Shaikh and Mohammad Akbar Nizamani announced at a news conference at the press club that the conference was being organised in Hyderabad after 20 years.

It would provide a forum to all the paediatricians of Pakistan to exchange their experiences with one another, they said

Different workshops on advance neonatal life support, child development and management of child abuse and torture would be held before the conference whose theme this year was "Investment in child health: A national priority", they said.

MUET: A US delegation met with the officials of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in the presence of vice-chancellor of Sindh University Dr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui and discussed the Fulbright scholarship at the university campus on Monday.

The delegation comprised Dr Grace Clark, executive director of US Educational Foundation in Pakistan, Mr Kern Heimsoth, vice consul US Consulate Karachi.

Dr Clark also addressed a seminar on "Fulbright Programme: Scope and opportunities", which was organised by Fulbright Alumni Association, Jamshoro chapter. SU Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Siddiqui presided over the seminar.

Dr Clark said that Fulbright Programme offered 200 scholarships for MS/PhD and post-doctoral research to Pakistani scholars and students and Fulbright-USAid and HEC Islamabad combined programme was the largest programme in the world.

The president of Fulbright Alumni Association Jamshoro Dr Abdul Karim Baloch said that the association would create awareness among younger faculty members and potential students about deriving maximum benefit out of the Fulbright Programme and contest for MS/PhD scholarship.
