KARACHI, Feb 13: Despite a fighting knock by Sarfraz Ahmed, Karachi Harbour struggled to 238 for eight against Sialkot on the opening day of the last-round Gold League match in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy at the National Stadium here on Tuesday.

Sarfraz, the talented wicket-keeper/batsman, hit 70 after coming to the crease with his side in tatters at 87 for four.

Apart from Sarfraz, who slammed seven boundaries during his 138-ball innings, opener Wajihuddin scored 47 and skipper Naumanullah 44.

Off-spinner Tariq Mahmood captured three for 50.

Meanwhile, there was the first day of the match between Peshawar and Lahore Shalimar at Arbab Niaz Stadium was abandoned without a ball being bowled because of heavy showers in Peshawar.
