QUETTA, Feb 18: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary has strongly condemned the suicide attack on the court of a senior civil judge and described it as an inhuman and barbarian terrorist act.

He was talking to newsmen after his visit to the Bolan Medical Complex Hospital and Civil Hospital Quetta on Sunday.

Chief Secretary K. B. Rind, Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Amanullah Yasinzai, Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Fayyaz Ahmed of the Supreme Court of Pakistan were also present on the occasion.

“The elements involved in this terrorist act are anti-state and anti-nation people who would not be spared,” he said, adding that they would be brought to justice. He said that anti-state elements would never succeed in their malicious designs.

While referring to the security of the courts, he directed the chief secretary of Balochistan to take steps with the consultation of lawyers’ bodies for improving security arrangements and ensuring security of the courts in the province. “A comprehensive plan should be evolved for making foolproof security of the courts,” he said, adding that the chief secretary should consult the Chief Justice of Balochistan lawyers’ bodies in this regard. He also asked that the vice chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, Ali Ahmed Kurd, and the Balochistan Bar Association President, Hadi Shakil Ahmed, prepare their suggestions in this connection.

Later, the Chief Justice went to the residence of the late senior civil judge, Abdul Wahid Durrani, and condoled with his family.

JUDGE BURIED: Amid tight security arrangements the senior civil judge, Abdul Wahid Durrani, who was killed along with 14 other people in a suicidal attack in a court room in Quetta on Saturday, was buried in his family graveyard here on Sunday.
