HYDERABAD, Feb 21: The department of neurosurgery, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, on Wednesday organized a hands-on workshop on "Pedicle Screws" in connection with its fifth annual international conference schedule to be held on February 24. Eminent neurosurgeons from Hyderabad and Karachi spoke on the new technology.

The head of the department of neurosurgery, LUMHS, Dr Aftab Qureshi said that pedicle screws in spines was a new technology which improved the quality of life of the patient. He delivered a detailed lecture on spinal cord.

The head of the department of neurosurgery, Aga Khan University, Professor Ather Inam, said that a patient suffering from spinal cord problems experienced great relief after the use of pedicle screws.

He, however, said that the mode of treatment was very costly.
