HARIPUR, Feb 25: A woman was injured in an alleged attempt of gang rape by six people in the village of Bandi Sehran, some 9km from here, on Sunday.

The 41-year-old woman, widow of an ex-army man of Galam Pind, told reporters at the Kotnajibullah Hospital that she was weeding her mustard farm when the six accused, from the same village, pounced on her and tried to assault her.

“On my resistance the accused beat me and broke my left arm and teeth when some villagers came to my rescue,” she added.

She also alleged that the attackers robbed her of Rs100,000 which she was carrying to pay to some of her relatives.

She said the accused had long been persuading her to sell the farmland to them. “But I refused because it is the property of my three children.”

The Kotnajibullah police have registered a case against the accused. The police told the reporters that there was a dispute over property between the woman and the accused, who are close relatives.

The woman was admitted to the Rural Health Centre, Kotnajibullah.
