HYDERABAD, Feb 25: The chairman of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) and chief of People’s Party Parliamentarians, Makhdoom Amin Faheem, has said that suicide bomb blasts are the result of wrong foreign policy of the government and added that unless the rulers stop ‘dancing to the tune of others,’ such attacks will continue.
He said the only solution to this problem was that the foreign policy of the country should be framed according to the wishes of the masses.
He was talking to journalists at a reception hosted by Rais Masood in old Hala on Sunday. He reached the venue of the reception in a huge cavalcade of vehicles to demonstrate the strength of the Makhdoom family.
He said restrictions on parliamentarians about speaking on certain issues on the floor of the assemblies were tantamount to gagging the voice of the people ‘to please a dictator.’
He said the ban was unacceptable, the present assemblies had become rubber stamps and a change was inevitable.
He said on the one hand President Gen Pervez Musharraf was talking about fair elections and on the other he had come out in the open to canvass for the Pakistan Muslim League.
Mr Fahim said he had learnt that President Musharraf would soon visit Matiari district and announce a huge development package for the district.
He said that while he would welcome such a package, it should be ensured that the money was not used to win over sympathies of the voters.
He said conscious people would continue to support him all the time.
He said lawlessness was at its peak in the country and added on the one hand people were living in a perpetual nightmare of lawlessness and on the other, they were groaning under the price hike.
He said the middle class would be the main sufferer due to the increase in power tariff.
He said Benazir Bhutto would attend the ‘ARD's all-party conference being hosted by the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz)’ in London but added in case she was not able to attend the conference due to some reasons, the team nominated by her would certainly attend the conference. He said a committee had been constituted to bring about some amendments to the agenda of the APC.
He said Ms Bhutto had decided in principle to return to Pakistan.
He, however, said the most propitious time for her return would be soon after the announcement of election schedule.
He said important decisions would be taken about future course of action at the APC. He said if General Musharraf announced the date of his election through the present assemblies, the ARD would also announce its strategy.
He said the masses had rejected the government and it was now ruling the country by force.
Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, Abdul Sattar Bachani, Seth Khalid Memon and many other party leaders were present on the occasion.
