HYDERABAD, March 2: The government has devolved powers at the grass-root level and now it is up to the elected representatives to resolve the problems of people, said the chairman, National Commission for Government Reforms, Dr Ishrat Hussain.
Talking the nazims of different talukas and the union councils in Tando Allahyar on Friday, he said that the government was providing funds to them and now it was their responsibility to identify the schemes beneficial for the common man. Dr Ishrat asked the nazims to keep their personal interests away as far as the development schemes were concerned.
He said that the government had introduced Rozgar schemes to end poverty and was also providing loans through Khushhali banks for setting up small industries.
He said that another scheme was on the anvil under which youths with masters degrees will be provided an allowance of Rs10,000 per month and they will also be given training in different skills. He stressed upon the need for educating girls, saying that without this, the country could not progress.
