LONDON, March 4: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has called upon the PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto to explain to the people of the country, particularly her party’s workers, the reasons behind her decision not to attend the multi-party conference convened by PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif.
A statement issued by members of the coordination committee accused the PPP leader of keeping the workers of her party in the dark about reasons behind her decision. It alleged that while the former prime minister talked about her commitment to democracy she was covertly trying to reach a deal with the government.
The committee said it reserved the right to hold peaceful demonstrations if the PPP leader failed to explain her position to the public.
Our Correspondent in Badin adds: Former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said here on Sunday that the PPP and the government were holding talks and that was the reason for Benazir Bhutto’s refusal to attend the multi-party conference in London. He, however, did not say how the talks were progressing.
He was talking to journalists at receptions hosted by PML leaders Sher Jamali in Badin and Chaudhry Mohammad Asghar Ghumman in Khoski.
