PESHAWAR, March 8: Afghan consul in Peshawar Abdul Khaliq Farahi on Thursday called on NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani at the Frontier House here and discussed with him matters pertaining to overall situation in the region.
The chief minister drew the attention of the Afghan consul towards the shortage of kerosene and diesel oil in Chitral following the closure of Lowari Tunnel due to bad weather and continued snowfall in the area.
Mr Durrani informed the Afghan diplomat of problems being faced by the dwellers of Chitral district in the aftermath of shortage of kerosene and diesel oil and sought his government’s support in supply of amenities to Chitral via Afghanistan.
He said that the Afghan government could play its role in minimising the sufferings of Chitralis by opening the route in Afghanistan leading to Chitral.
He said with opening of the route, besides petrol, diesel and kerosene oil, other amenities of life could be supplied to Chitral from Afghanistan.—APP
