HYDERABAD, March 14: Lawyers across the Sindh province continued their boycott of courts for the third day running on Wednesday in protest against the president’s action against Chief Justice of Pakistan.

In Hyderabad lawyers wore black armbands and brought out a large rally, which culminated in front of the press club. Member of Pakistan Bar Council Yusuf Leghari, Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) President Abdul Aziz Sheikh, High Court Bar Association (HCBA) General Secretary Allah Bachayo Soomro who led the rally announced they would observe a token hunger strike on Thursday besides continuing with their boycott.

They said that a lawyers’ convention in Lahore on March 17 would decide their future course of action.

SANGHAR: Lawyers continued boycott of courts while DBA President Anwar Mehmood Nizamani said that they would observe a token hunger strike on Thursday outside the DBA office, which would continue for an indefinite period.

Lawyers were not fighting against an individual but were struggling to save the judicial system, he said and appealed to the politicians and political parties to help establish supremacy of law.

KHAIRPUR: Lawyers staged a procession, which started from the sessions court building and ended at the Panj Gulla Chowk.

DBA General Secretary Asadullah Maitlo said that the association had passed a unanimous resolution demanding withdrawal of reference against the chief justice.

He criticised the Sindh chief minister’s press conference on the issue and said that people of Sindh were with the chief justice.

THATTA: Members of DBA Thatta continued their boycott of court proceedings on the third consecutive day.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Lawyers in Naushahro Feroze, Moro, Bhirya and Kandiaro boycotted court proceedings, staged rallies and demonstrations. They demanded that the senior most judge Justice Rana Bhagwandas should be called back and objected to the composition of Supreme Judicial Council.

NAWABSHAH: Lawyers observed black day and boycotted court proceedings. Led by DBA President Ali Mohammad Dahri and General Secretary Ziaul Hassan Lanjar they also staged a demonstration.

SHIKARPUR: Lawyers held a protest meeting at the bar office and demanded legal facilities and protocol for the chief justice. They continued their boycott of the court and also staged a demonstration.

JACOBABAD: Members of DBA staged a rally wearing black armbands and marched on the main roads of the city. They were carrying placards condemning the action against chief justice.

DADU: Lawyers continued their boycott of courts and staged a demonstration against the president’s action. They were led by DBA President Shafi Mohammad Memon.
