QUETTA, March 17: Power supply was suspended to part of Kahan tehsil as rockets hit two transformers in Tartani area on Saturday. Rockets were also fired at camps of Frontier Corps in Wadh, Mastung and Quetta, while Sibi was rocked by a powerful explosion.

Official sources said at least five rockets fired from the mountains in Tartani area by militants exploded in the town. Two of them hit electric transformers, suspending power supply to a vast area.

A rocket explosion caused panic in a residential complex in the provincial capital. “The 107mm rocket landed on the roof of the home of Mohammad Bilal, the owner of the complex at Alamo Chowk,” police said, adding that the residents remained unhurt but the building was damaged.

Sources said rockets also exploded near FC camps in Wadh and Mastung towns.

FC also fired rockets in retaliation in Tartani and Wadh.

In Sibi, walls of the local social welfare department office and the women’s Parda Club were damaged in the bomb explosion.

Sources said the FC seized 40kg of explosives hidden underground in Loti gas field.

They said the FC also arrested an injured member of the banned Baloch Liberation Army in Tump.
