SIALKOT, March 20: The buildings department has declared the buildings of 16 government girls schools in Pasrur tehsil as dangerous advising the education department to immediately shift the schools.

According to official sources, the buildings of schools in Sorangiyaan, Mahaar, Jeeywali, Kamalpur, Bajwa, Mukta, Data Braahmnaa, Chichariyali, Bakhatpur, Ferozkey Nagra, Chobara, Chak Raha, Gillan Chak, Tharo Mandi, Jabbokey and Chak Machhana are ‘very dangerous’. The administrations hold classes under the sky to avoid any untoward incident.

Villagers built two classrooms of school in Kot Kalaal, Pasrur, in 1975 on self-help basis. The government could not even build boundary walls of the school and provide drinking water.

Despite the tall claims of developing education sector by the federal, provincial and district governments, the miseries of the government educational institutions in Sialkot district still going on.

Moreover, restarting schools-turned-cattle sheds still remains a big challenge for the education department due to ‘negligence’ of the officials concerned.

RAIN: Both Sialkot and Narowal districts on Tuesday received heavy rain after a weeklong dry spell.

The rain began early in the morning which continued the whole day inundating low-lying areas in the city.

The Met Office has forecast more heavy rains in Sialkot and Narowal districts and the catchment areas of neighbouring Occupied Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
