HYDERABAD, March 22: Noted TV playwright and short story writer Noorul Huda Shah has said that Sindhi women have achieved a lot through struggle in every field, including literature.
She was speaking at a women’s Mushaira organized by women’s organization Aurtazaad in collaboration with the Sindh University Teachers Association at Pir Hussamuddin Rashidi auditorium of the Institute of Sindhology on Wednesday.
A large number of women intellectuals, writers and poets from different parts of the province and Sindh University teachers and students attended the Mushaira.
Ms Shah said that present time was conducive to promote women's rights.
She appreciated efforts made by Aurtazaad and the SUTA for organizing different events to provide opportunities to women to gather and expresses their views.
Maryam Majeedi, who presided over the Mushaira, said that women were an integral part of the society and it was their duty to focus on the pain of the masses and work for its amelioration. She said that women writers and poets had been contributing their thoughts for creating a better environment.
Professor Amar Sindhu of Aurtazaad said that her organization had been making efforts to create awareness among women of their rights and responsibilities.
She said that the purpose of organizing the Mushaira was to provide a platform to women for expressing their thoughts.
Ms Majeedi, Dr Qamar Wahid, Shabnam Gul, Gulshan Leghari, Amar Sindhu, Rehana Channar, Rukhsana Preet Channar, Nazir Naz, Samina Memon, Humera Noor, Najma Panhwar, Gul Badan Mirza, Irfana Mallah, Akhtar Afroz Shah, Dr Mehrunnisa Larik and others recited their poetry.
