LAHORE, March 26: Sialkot won the PCB U-15 Inter-Region cricket tournament, beating Multan by 108 runs at the Gaddafi stadium on Monday. Pakistan, jolted by players’ poor show in World Cup and coach Bob Woolmer’s death, is not ready to learn from its mistakes.

A PCB official Javed Zaman Khan, who distributed the prizes at the final disclosed to journalists that 90 per cent of the players representing the two regions were overaged and the PCB would hold an inquiry into it.

All 11 regions affiliated with the PCB and one joint team of FATA, Azad Kashmir entered as a team.

There is every likelihood that teams of other regions also include overage players, making all exercise of the board to spot talent as doubtful and waste of time and money.

Javed Zaman said he was not aware who picked the teams for this tournament but added the board would take action against those responsible. It has been learnt that regional coaches with the collaboration of the National Cricket Academy pick the players.

Moreover, the cash-rich PCB also distributed prizes amounting to Rs 125,000 among the players, besides paying daily allowances to them

Summarised scores:

Sialkot: 242-7, 50 overs (Abdul Rauf 111 not out; Ahad Raza 4-56).

Multan 134 (Mohammad Asim 45 not out; Naveed Shehzad 4-34, Raza Hasan 4-24).
