KARACHI, March 27: Promising second seed Nameer Shamsi took a sweet revenge of his last month’s defeat when he toppled top seed Adil Kohari in a gruelling, three-set final to win boys U-13 singles crown in the Sindh ranking tennis tournament at CDGK Sports Complex on Tuesday.

After conceding the opener 2-6 to his opponent, Nameer stormed back to clinch the following two sets 6-2, 6-4 in over two hour battle.

A seventh grade student, Nameer captured his maiden boys U-13 title in a national ranking event held at the same venue earlier this year by getting the better of Adil before losing in a Sindh ranking competition recently.

In the evening, an ankle injury compelled Nameer to retire against Hasham Khan in boys U-15 quarter-final.

Hasham Khan also overcame fighting Mustafa Zaidi in three agonising sets to set a date with top seed Zuhair Raza for the juniors U-17 crown. Hasham was home 5-7, 7-5, 7-5.

Boys U-15 (quarter-finals):

Abdul Rehman bt Konain 6-0, 6-2; Hasham Khan bt Nameer Shamsi 4-2 (retd).
